How long does mediation take?

  • This depends to a significant extent on the clients who decide on when they will next meet and for what purpose in conjunction with the Mediator at the end of each session
  • As a general rule, clients can expect to see the mediator between 2 and 3 times and the process may take weeks or months. This is largely because clients may need time between sessions to get together necessary information about finances or to have time to reflect on the process and the issues that it may have raised for them
  • As a general rule clients spend around 6 hours working with the Mediator, assuming that they decide to mediate the full length of the process
